My family came with me on a work trip and then we took a little mini vacation. Now we are back and ready to get back into things. On our trip, we went to Devil’s Tower – that name wasn’t picked by the American Native people, but by Colonel Richard Irving Dodge. He mis-translated the name or if he just chose that name. There are a couple of legends that surround Devil’s Tower. It is worth Googling them and I will tell you that seeing Devil’s Tower in person is very amazing! Very beautiful!
We also saw Cathedral in the Hills. That is a very awesome stop as well. They built and brought one of the buildings from Norway to Rapid City and put it back together. They also built a church that is a replica of what they have in Norway as well. It is definitely worth a visit to get some pretty awesome history. Especially, if you have family that came from Norway.
One of the other things we did while in Rapid City was bring our daughter to a place that had go carts and an arcade. That was one of her requests that she wanted to do. So, we were able to see our daughter drive a go cart for the very first time. It was very awesome and a lot of fun. We also played a lot of video games.
Some of the other things that my wife and daughter did, was go to the Reptile Gardens, which they both enjoyed. They also went to one of the local libraries and spent some time and we did a lot of swimming in the hotel pool.
I used to do travel nursing and we had spent three months in Rapid City a number of years ago. We have also been to Custard State Park and drove through the Needles Highway. Which by the way, I very highly recommend doing. It is amazing. We have done a bunch of the other sites and scenes as well when we lived there.
Black Hills is very awesome and if you ever want to get away but not have to travel a real long distance, then I highly recommend taking a trip there. Thank you again for choosing Grace Unbound, I appreciate everyone’s support!
